For the short field trip, Interior design students visited the 'Renaissance Fine Woodworking'. This firm is owned by Paul and Tom and they do custom-made furniture, cabinetry, and remodeling. I learned the ideal work ethics along with some design tips. Dealing with the clients can be serious work when money is involved. However, in this situation, it is important to enjoy the design process as well as working with other workers. Also, it is important to build good relationship with clients and workers because this is how you mostly get second opportunity.
Mainly, the designer is responsible for knowing the specific values that the client has in order to inform the builders and reduce the mistakes. Tom said, one time he talked with a client for several hours to find out her personal preference. The client appreciated this because it showed great attention to client and the project that he is working on. When you remodel space, it is important to think about plumbing and electricity ahead of time so, it would save more budgets.
